Lower Chasm Falls

This oil painting was a challenge for me because there are no definite objects, just lights, darks, forms, shapes and color. I wanted to capture the rushing, falling, splashing and floating movement of the water. It was almost like wanting to express the feeling of the chaos of coming down a water slide and being poured out into a refreshing pool. The moss and water on the rocks is subtle but important. I am pleased with it. I wish I had done it larger than 11 x 14.

For Fun

Left side

I belong to a great group of painters. Nature Coast Decorative Artists www.naturecoastdecorativeartists.com
This month we are having a chili cook-off and decorated straw hat contest. I did a chicken theme hat. I am working on the shirt to go with it using fabric marker and Zentangle. I call mine Fun-doodle because you need to be licensed to use the Zentangle name.
You outline an object and fill in sections with different designs. Check out Pinterest and you will be inspired.

I also painted a cookie sheet with a chicken design to use as a magnetic picture holder. I an attaching it inside my pantry door. It is a Terrye French design. Below that are some candleholders with primitive cats from Birds of a Feather patterns. The wood candlesticks are from Bear With Us Inc.

It is a break from the stress of creating oil paintings to just paint fun stuff like this.
